Welcome one and all to another tribute episode of #TuneUpThursdays.
Upon hearing about the health issues that Tom Petty was having, I was originally going to repost the acoustic cover that I did with James Testani many years ago. However, I didn't have access to my old GarageBand file, so I couldn't do it. Plus, with the new direction I took with Tune-Up Thursdays this year, it wouldn't have fit.
And while I had a few songs already lined up for the upcoming weeks, it felt appropriate to do a tribute piece for Tom Petty. And as I kept recording the song last night, I realized that it was also a tribute to Marlena as well. (You may have already seen my tribute post to Ms. Morgan last night).
The chorus was something Marlena would've told me when I was a bright-eyed, but depressed teenager. That I should just forget about what everyone else thought of me, and just free fall into the future.
I'd like to give a shoutout to Stephen O'Bent for his Free Fallin' acapella arrangement. A cover of his parody "Free Ballin'" will be coming up in the next few weeks.
Please enjoy my cover of Tom Petty's iconic piece: "Free Fallin'".
And as always, if you like what you hear, please share with your friends and family.
Side note: I love to collaborate!!! If you'd like to record a Tune-Up Thursdays track with me, just drop me a line at
Aerhyn.Lau@gmail.com and we'll work on something together to record! Or if you have an acapella arrangement of a song you've been working on, please share it with me and I'll do a recording of it! Or, if you have a song request, message me and I'll try my best to make it happen!
See you next week!!!
