Welcome to #TuneUpThursdays with yours truly, and this week's song will give you a little insight into my process of putting together a Tune-Up Thursdays track.
About once a month, I will peruse MuseScore for acapella sheet music. MuseScore is a site where people can upload their music compositions to share with the rest of the world.
I'll usually click on anything that may seem interesting - songs I know, songs I've heard of, songs I may not have heard of ever. After downloading the scores that I like, I will usually go through them one by one and rename the file so that it's super organized in my dropbox folder. As I'm renaming these pdfs, I'll usually look up on YouTube the songs that I'm not familiar with, to get a sense of the song and the style.
This week's song was found in this way. I looked up the song online, thought it had a great hook, and was very catchy. What I didn't realize at the time was that it was a new song. I only discovered this when I was in Ottawa, and while sitting in my Uber to the venue I was performing at, I heard this song come up on the radio and I said to myself, "this song sounds familiar...I wonder what it is?". So I Shazam the song and realize that I had just recently downloaded an arrangement of this piece - so I figured it was a sign that I should record it.
Please enjoy my acapella cover of Ed Sheeran's "Shape Of You".
And as always, if you like what you hear, please share with your friends and family.
Side note: I love to collaborate!!! If you'd like to record a Tune-Up Thursdays track with me, just drop me a line at
Aerhyn.Lau@gmail.com and we'll work on something together to record! Or if you have an acapella arrangement of a song you've been working on, please share it with me and I'll do a recording of it! Or, if you have a song request, message me and I'll try my best to make it happen!
See you next week!!!
