Welcome to another (late) #TuneUpThursdays offering!!!

I'm now back in Vancouver, but I was very inspired while I was in Ottawa, and managed to record a few songs!

This one was inspired by Spencer and I talking about Tony noms, and what we thought of the shows that were nomintated, and the shows we thought *should* win, as well as who we thought *would* win.

We talked about this one particular song and then ended up singing it out loud on the street.

Needless to say, once I got settled into my dorm room at Carleton University, this was the first song I recorded, to ensure that my feelings towards the song were fresh enough to be sort of heard in the recording.

Fast forward to the next week, and I'm back in Toronto. Ever since I stumbled into Statlers on Church Street, and discovered the Singular Sensations musical theatre open-mic (featuring Jenni Wall, Donavan LeNabat, and Jamie Bird) back in 2015, I've made sure that every time I'm in Toronto, I stay for at least one Monday night.

Usually, each week there's a new theme, and the singers try to adhere to that theme. Maren informed me that this week's theme was "Taking a Risk". Considering that this song was new to me, taking a risk meant performing a song I had never sung in public before.

So I'm at Statlers, and near the end of the night, I decide to check the list to see where I was...and my name had disappeared. They had a new list up. I was told that I could sing right away, and I start sharing the music via ipad to the rest of the musicians. The young man who was going to be the eventual last singer of the night checked out the song I was gonna sing, and we realized that it was the exact same song.

We both became very Canadian, both offering to step down for the other - that is, until Maren suggests we do a Diva-Tag (where we each take turns, and tag each other when the other is to sing). We ended up bringing down the house with our duet version of this song, and I couldn't have pictured it any other way.
