What's going on with the world? Why is time going so fast? Cause allova sudden, it's time for #TuneUpThursdays again!
This week's #TUT song is special to me for a few reasons.
It's a song by an artist that Michelle Yuen introduced to me years ago, and we went to his concert at the Commodore together. (Also where she got me to yell out "Sing Better!!!" to the artist, and after doing so, hoping the rest of the crowd realized that I was asking him to sing his song called "Better". Thank God he realized that!)
It's also the song I sang for my second attempt at Canadian Idol with Ray Estrella. Also, it's the song that got me to the judges round, where I was told by Judge Zack that my face resembled a cement block. And the song I sang whilst in line outside of the Plaza of Nations, that enabled me to meet Kita & Kaija & Sonja for the very first time! (A friendship that has lasted over the years.)
And it's the third song that James Testani and I decided to record together that one fateful spring day. The previous two (In Your Atmosphere and Free Fallin') were done in multi-track style: James laid his track down first, and then I laid my track over top of his, in a separate session.
We decided that we should at least try one track together. Problem was that James was reading a regular guitar tab version of the song, and the version I memorized to sing had some extra bars in it. But as true professionals, we didn't let that faze us, and we finished the track.
So please enjoy my cover of #JasonMraz's "You And I Both", featuring James Testani on guitar.
And as always, if you like what you hear, please share with your friends and family. Those who may want to collaborate, or if you have any song requests, feel free to message me at
