Welcome everybody to the last #TuneUpThursdays offering for the month of June, and the last track I'll cover from the old Sine Nomine repertoire.

This last track is a special one. Bruce Pullan was the man who not only conducted me in choir for most of my teens and 20s, but also became a mentor. It was Bruce who noticed that while my voice had changed, that I still retained my upper mezzo register, and had helped me nurture my counter tenor range in my formative high school years.

And he did it with this song. Sine Nomine sang this John Rutter arrangement of Barbara Allen, and while Bruce never said it out loud, I think it may have been because I had discovered my counter tenor voice. It was easily one of my favourite Sine pieces to sing, not just because I was featured on the top line, but because it was the first time I was able to allow my upper register to flourish in a choral piece since my voice dropped.

So this week's song goes out to Bruce Pullan and all the Sine Nomine singers from past to present (Stephen, Richard, Thomas, Kevin, Ken, Stephen, Malcolm, Roland, Kevin, Daniel, Darren, Anders, Alvin, Chris, and anyone else I may have forgotten). This month was in dedication of our little "Boys Club".
