Welcome one and all to a very, very late edition of #TuneUpThursdays on a Saturday.

I'm going through some vocal issues right now, where my voice isn't all that great at the usual times that I set aside to do my recordings. But, I'm still trying to get some recording time in between teaching hip hop for Troy's Bop Shop on the North Shore, and working at the restaurant.

Anyhow, back to this month's theme of #ComedySongs, and today I'm covering a song that was part of the Melbourne Metro campaign to decrease accidents around the Melbourne LRT line. The catchy tune that was written for this campaign, and the accompanying video went viral and turned into a larger slew of videos and even a mobile video game.

As I did my research to look up interesting facts about this song, it turns out that I never knew who sang the song in the first place! I discovered that aside from John Mescall from the advertising agency that helped pen the tune, the music was written by Ollie McGill from The Cat Empire, and was originally sung by Emily Lubitz from Tinpan Orange. Which explains why on iTunes, the group attributed to the song was Tangerine Kitty (Orange/Cat Empire - get it?)
