Welcome one and all to a very, *VERY* special #TuneUpThursdays offering this week.
It's very special because it is officially Week 100. Which means a few things;
1) First, it means that there's 4 more weeks before Tune-Up Thursdays officially starts it's 3rd Season.
2) Furthermore, it also means that #AerhynsAcapellaAdvent starts very, very, VERY soon...like tomorrow kind of soon.
and most importantly, 3) It is #Week100. Which means that in the past almost two years, I've covered at least 100 songs. One hundred tracks out there in the ether.
Honestly, I never thought I'd be able to keep it up for a year, much less almost finish a second year.
So I thought for this week, I should honour my musical background, and bring it back to some good ol' classic choral music.
I have been studying/performing music since I was 6 years old. That's 29 years of my life where music has flowed through my fingers, my instruments, and my voice. And while I've played piano for that length of time, and played violin/viola touring with the Vancouver Youth Symphony Orchestra, and played multiple instruments in the Moscrop and Burnaby Central concert bands, I was always a very proficient singer.
It's because of my 27 years with the Bach Family of Choirs that I honed my singing skills, and under the tutelage of Mary Lage, the late Diane Loomer, Rupert Lang, and most important of all, Bruce Pullan, that I eventually became a professional vocalist.
So this week, I "bring it back to the old school", while still following my theme of songs inspired by my involvement with SaskExpress' "All I Want For Christmas Is You" show this winter.
Without further ado, please one of my favourite choral pieces of all time, Morten Lauriden's "O Magnum Mysterium".
And as always, if you like what you hear, please share with your friends and family.
Side note: I love to collaborate!!! If you'd like to record a Tune-Up Thursdays track with me, just drop me a line at
Aerhyn.Lau@gmail.com and we'll work on something together to record! Or if you have an acapella arrangement of a song you've been working on, please share it with me and I'll do a recording of it! Or, if you have a song request, message me and I'll try my best to make it happen!
