Hello and welcome everyone to a later edition of #Day12's #AerhynsAcapellaAdvent Calendar song!
This song has been in my choral music binder since the 2008/09 season, and I have been reluctant to do it because of it's complexity. It was a song that Sarabande had debuted at the CWBC concert in '08, and took it on tour with us to the ABCD conference (Association of British Choral Directors) and performed it in the 200ft deep hall at the University of Winchester.
The song changes times signatures throughout, and my personal copy of the score is covered in marked 1s, 2s, and 3s to help myself keep count, and keep the feel of the piece. I finally got enough gumption (especially after tackling the Voctave cover a few weeks ago) to give this one a try, and it was a very daunting task - especially in a situation where I have to have a new cover every day this month!
I also tested a different method of recording my acapella tracks. I'm calling it the "double choir" method. And it consists of me splitting each vocal part into two "call & answer" parts, and recording them as such. I go through the song while recording twice as much, but the end result sounds really smooth and put together!
Please enjoy my cover of Steven Sametz' "Gaudete!", the 2nd part of "Two Medieval Lyrics" that was commissioned by Terry Knowles & Marshall Rutter for Chanticleer.
Please share this holiday spirit with your friends & families, and anyone who you might think may enjoy some acapella Christmas cheer!
Tune in tomorrow for Day 13!!!
Also, please share my advent calendar and the musical Christmas spirit with your friends and families!!! If you have any song ideas, don't hesitate to email
