Welcome one and all to #Day12 of #AerhynsAcapellaAdvent Calendar!!!
Today's track is a very special track, because it is a completely original piece!!!
Not composed by me however - my composing prowess is non-existent.
It *is* composed by two good friends of mine back home in Vancouver; Gil & Sarah Jaysmith.
Last year, when I made the decision to switch over from generic Christmas covers to a completely acapella project, Sarah graced my e-mail with some pieces she and her husband Gil had composed for various choirs and performance groups. She offered me a plethora of pieces to explore, and I was stunned.
I then recorded her arrangements of the Coventry Carol, as well as the Wexford Carol. This year, I've chosen a few more of her pieces to feature on this Acapella Advent Calendar, and the first one is really cool. Why? Because it's a Christmas Madrigal. And being the choir boy that I am, I love me a good madrigal.
Now when it comes to recording pieces for the advent calendar and my weekly #TuneUpThursdays offerings, I'm usually sight reading the piece as I'm recording each track. (Thank you very much Bruce and the Bach choir for teaching me those skills!!!) I can honestly say that this was one of the most challenging pieces to sight read. Which made the feeling after I finished recording all parts *that* much better.
As you're realizing that we're already halfway through this year's Acapella Advent Calendar, please sit back and enjoy my cover of Gil & Sarah's original Christmas madrigal "Is Winter Not A Friend?".
Tune in tomorrow for Day 13!!!
Also, please share my advent calendar and the musical Christmas spirit with your friends and families!!! If you have any song ideas, don't hesitate to email
