Day 2 of Aerhyn's Acapella Advent 2016, and I go back to my men's chorus roots.
I've been singing with the family of Bach Choirs since the age of 8, and have literally grown up in this choir!
Around 1998, a year after the introduction of the treble-voices chamber choir "Anna Magdelena", the higher-ups in the choir decided there need to be some gender parity, and started up a men's chamber chorus.
We couldn't think of a name right away (we were having trouble deciding on a few - Bach Street Boys being one of them), and used Sine Nomine (Latin for "Without a Name") as a temporary place holder. Next thing we know, the name stuck.
Rehearsals for Sine Nomine were run by Bruce Pullan almost like a social club. We'd sing, Bruce would share a story about singing in a pub in England, we'd sing some more, jokes would be told, etc...
One of the best parts of Sine was that Bruce had written arrangements for our choir and he wrote them uniquely for our voices.
For Day 2 of the Musical Advent Calendar this year, I'd like to share one of them for you now. Know that this won't be the last of Bruce's arrangements you'll hear from me this holiday season.
Enjoy my rendition of Bruce Pullan's "The Seven Joys Of Mary"!
Also, please share my advent calendar and the musical Christmas spirit with your friends and families!!! If you have any song ideas, don't hesitate to email
