It's December 1st, 2016 and jumping on last year's success, I'm doing a musical advent calendar again!
This year, I decided to up the ante a little bit, and make it #AerhynsAcapellaAdvent!
This 2016 Holiday season, each one of my advent tracks will be an a capella cover/arrangement of a Christmas song.
I'm starting the 2016 Acapella Advent with a classic #KirbyShaw jazz arrangement. I actually got to meet Kirby Shaw back in 2002 when he came to Vancouver with his vocal jazz combo "Just 4 Kicks" and I was working the tech booth as part of my class requirements.
I discovered this jazz arrangement performing with #JimBryson and #JamesProductions' #ChristmasPops! After performing it with the Christmas Pops team, I had always wanted to do a recording of this song, and finally I get the chance!!!
To my Christmas Pops cast/orchestra/crew from yesteryear - Mel, Colleen, Kim, Linnea, Erin, Tammy, Megan, Donna, Kathy, Friedrick, Rob, Robin, Kram, Kevin, Judy, Dan, Amanda, Steve, Andrea, Brent, Bruce, Tom, Candace, Patti, Adam - I miss you all, and this one's for you!
Enjoy Day 1 of the 2016 Advent Calendar with my rendition of Kirby Shaw's "Jolly Old St. Nicholas"!
